Volunteering

Call for Volunteers:
Port Hope Estival! 2010 is in need of volunteers! We are a grass routes 100% volunteer organization. No board member, committee member or volunteer gets paid, but our need for volunteers is great.

You can volunteer to assist the committee ahead of time, preparing for the event, or during the Civic long-weekend itself. Last year we had over 200 volunteers in total.
The jobs available are numerous and prior to Estival itself include: delivering notices and flyers, erecting signs, making phone calls, assisting in planning the parade and contacting participants, securing donations of goods and services from local businesses etc.

On the Thursday (July 29) prior to Estival and the Monday(August 2) immediately following, we require a number of sturdy individuals who can assist us with setting up or removing tables, chairs, fences, signs, decor, stages and the like.
 
During the event (July 30 - August 1) we require a large number of volunteers to man the gates and collect admissions, direct guests, staff our children's area, assist art vendors with setting up their displays, provide security, staff the few road barricades which will be used this year (all immediately adjacent to the park itself), staff the entertainers food/beverage & rest area, assist entertainers with unloading and setting up their equipment etc.
 
We will also require a number of Smart Serve certified individuals to help out with regard to the liquor sales and service during the event. We need people to check identification and supply wrist bands to guests who will be consuming alcohol. We will also need bar tenders, liquor ticket sellers, floor walkers & gate monitors (to ensure that no liquor enters or leaves the premises).
